CANADIAN GENETIC DISEASES NETWORK


Invitation - New Principal Investigators- Deadline: July 1, 2002

May 1, 2002: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Canadian Genetic Diseases Network (CGDN) is Canada’s premier research organization for the discovery of genes that cause human genetic disease and their translation into new commercial opportunities. The Priorities and Planning Committee of CGDN is soliciting applications from Canadian researchers, who share the goals and objectives of the Network, to become Principal Investigators in the Network. Principal Investigators are eligible to receive peer reviewed operational funds from CGDN, to access core technology facilities maintained by CGDN, apply for studentships and to apply for strategic funds for the commercialization of innovations.

To be eligible applicants must:

Be an independent researcher recognized for contributions that can be applied to the field of human genetic diseases research and the potential to translate those contributions into products and services that impact human health

Hold a full-time faculty or staff position at a Canadian University or Research Hospital (applications are invited from those returning to Canada)

Be nominated by a current CGDN Principal Investigator

Hold peer-reviewed funding of research from CIHR, SSHRC, NSERC or other research funding organization.

Applications must include the following information to arrive before July 1, 2002:

Letter of nomination from a CGDN PI. The letter should detail the applicant’s fit with CGDN’s mandate and the value they would bring to the Network.

2 page project proposal and budget to include in CGDN Research Program

Full Curriculum Vitae (CIHR c.v. module is acceptable)

Copies of 5 most significant publications

3 letters of recommendation including at least one from a current CGDN PI.
