  Eligibility and Expectations

BASIC ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

  1. A CGDN investigator must be a participant in this application.
  2. The project must demonstrate significant commercial potential for a new venture, ie-for a collaboration with a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company.
  3. Funding is targeted to specific objectives that promote the exploitation of research.
  4. The funds must have the potential to enhance significantly the ‘value’ of the project, in terms of being able to attract or ‘lever’ new funding or investments.
  5. Proposals should be suitable for confidential scientific and business review.
  6. Deadline for submission of proposals is any time.
  7. Not all proposals are funded but proposals may be resubmitted. All applicants will receive feedback.

REVIEW OF PROPOSALS:

A panel consisting of Network investigators, representatives from industry, and the Network’s Commercial Director, will recommend priorities for funding based upon the proposals received from investigators. Typical awards will range from $25-50,000 to reach specific objectives in 6-12 months. Response to your application takes a maximum of 2 months.
All materials submitted will remain strictly confidential.

EXPECTATION OF RETURNS:

In return for this strategic fund, the Network will receive a share of the commercial revenue, if any, commensurate with the current support and relevant historical Network contributions. Revenues will be used as per Board Directives to foster Network research and commercial developments.

 

  Guidelines - Strategic Fund Application

CGDN and non-CGDN investigators are invited to submit proposals for funding. The Strategic Fund is available to "top-up" research funds directed to the creation of intellectual property and know-how on commercially relevant results. Proposals will be reviewed by the Strategic Fund Review Panel and awarded accordingly within 2 months of the submission. Typically, awards range from $25,000 -$50,000 to reach specific objectives in 6-12 months.

Provide details to enable patent searches and/or patent applications.

Budget
Amount requested. How will funds be used? Is there "matching" or complementary funding available?
