Each summer, CGDN awards studentships to gifted undergraduate students who have arranged to undertake research in network laboratories. Working closely with a CGDN scientist, students will prepare a project proposal that aligns with the interest of both the network and the student. Past recipients of the award have gone on to graduate studies, medical school, MD/PhD programs, and careers in research. This award presents an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students, who possess a strong interest in science, to gain valuable research experience, and to develop a network within the research community.

To be eligible to receive a CGDN Summer Studentship, students must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Be enrolled in 3rd or 4th year studies of an undergraduate program at a recognized university;
  • Have high academic standing (preferably an A- average or better); and
  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing further studies in medical research and genetics.

The application deadline for the summer of 2004 has now passed.
