New Competition to select
CGDN 2000 Network Scholars
Closing Date: December 1, 2000
The Canadian Genetic Diseases Network invites young Canadian
researchers to apply to become CGDN Network Scholars.
CGDN is a premier research organization involved in the
identification and study of the genes involved in human genetic diseases
and in the translation of these innovations into products and services
for the benefit of all. Network Scholars are encouraged to participate
in the activities of the CGDN and take advantage of the mentoring environment
provided by CGDN. Scholars attend and present at the Network Annual Scientific
Meeting. Scholars can use CGDN supported core facilities and training
programs, and also apply for strategic funding to commercialize their

Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis by
a committee of CGDN members. CGDN expects to name new Network Scholars
on February 1, 2001
To be eligible applicants must:
- Hold a position at a recognized Canadian university or research institute;
- Be in the first five years of the applicant's first faculty appointment;
- Demonstrate evidence of scientific excellence, e.g., holding an MRC
scholarship and/or an independent peer-reviewed grant;
- Be based in an appropriate environment related to the genetics of
human disease
To apply applicants or their nominators must submit a
valid application by December 1, 2000 comprising:
- A full resume of the candidate
- Copies of the two best scientific papers by the applicant
- A letter of recommendation by a member of CGDN
- A letter of reference from a researcher who is not associated with
CGDN.
