Laboratory Technician

Period of Employment: Full time for a minimum of 16 months with possibility of extension.

Location: Laboratory of Dr. P. Gros, Department of Biochemistry and Center for Host Resistance, Faculty of Medicine, McGill University.

Description: This person will be in charge of maintaining and monitoring several mouse colonies of inbred, recombinant inbred and transgenic mouse strains. This work involves overseeing the breeding of these colonies (and not the changing of cages etc...), including setting up breeding pairs, maintaining a breeding logbook, tagging of mice, etc... Additional work at the bench will involve standard molecular biology techniques for genotyping such as PCR and sequencing.

Qualifications: Prior experience with mice and/or other rodents would be desirable. Prior experience with molecular biology techniques is requested.
